Wi-Fi Doesn't Have a Valid IP Configuration: Windows Network Fix
This error occurs when your wireless card fails to obtain a valid local IP address from your router's DHCP server, leaving you with an APIPA 169.254.x.x address and no internet.
Actionable Resolution Steps
1. Renew DHCP IP Lease
In Command Prompt (Admin):
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
If it returns an error, your router's DHCP pool may be exhausted or frozen.
2. Restart Router to Clear DHCP Table
Unplug router for 30 seconds. Routers keep a lease table that can run out of available client IPs if multiple mobile devices connect.
3. Set Static IP Address Manually
Bypass DHCP entirely by setting a static IP:
- **IP Address:**
192.168.1.150 (or 192.168.0.150 depending on router)
- **Subnet Mask:** 255.255.255.0
- **Default Gateway:** 192.168.1.1
- **Preferred DNS:** 1.1.1.1
4. Reset Network Settings in Windows 11
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > **Network reset** > Reset now.
5. Reinstall Wireless Network Drivers
Open Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi card > **Uninstall device**. Restart your PC—Windows will automatically reinstall a fresh driver.
